When did this:
Become this:
There is only 8 months between these two pictures. I still can't wrap my mind around how fast she is growing up. Now I know that she's only 18 months (next Sunday), and that 10-12 years from now when she's about to be a teenager, the impact of this rapid passing of time will be a lot more significant. But I am already learning that the time we have with our children goes oh so fast. And I pray everyday that I am raising her the way God intends me to. Because the things I do today will shape the person she is to become, and that is a responsibility that I don't think anyone fully understands until they have their first child. Being a parent is hard work sometimes. Being consistent is hard work sometimes. But it's funny how we don't mind the hard work and we do it anyway because love for a child runs so deep.
I don't usually put music on my blog, but this song has made me tear up more than once over the last few days. It's the new single by George Strait. And yes, the pregnancy hormones are on overdrive. :)
Just walked down the street to the coffee shop
Had to take a break
I'd been by her side for 18 hours straight
Saw a flower growin' in the middle of the sidewalk
Pushin' up through the concrete
Like it was planted right there for me to see
The flashin' lights
The honkin' horns
All seemed to fade away
In the shadow of that hospital at 5:08
I saw God today
I've been to church
I've read the book
I know he's here
But I don't look
Near as often as I should
Yeah, I know I should
His fingerprints are everywhere
I just slowed down to stop and stare
Opened my eyes
I saw God today
Saw a couple walkin' by they were holdin' hands
Man she had that glow
Yeah I couldn't help but notice she was startin' to show it
Stood there for a minute takin' the sky
Lost in that sunset
Splash of amber melted in the shades of red
Got my face pressed up against the nursery glass
She's sleepin' like a rock
My name on her wrist
Wearin' tiny pink socks
She's got my nose, she's got her mama's eyes
My brand new baby girl
She's a miracle
I saw God today

Amen Sister! I heard that song last week and it hit me too! You are so right and we have such a tremendous responsibility! I pray I am doing all the things I need to be doing too! I can't believe Mallory is turning eight in a month! Love ya girl and keep up the good work!
Little Natalie is soon to be a Big Sis!
That almost sounds like an oxymoron.
Oh my goodness... that song is GORGEOUS!!!!!! How have I missed that one?
It is SO true, and the older they get the even more unbelievable it is. McKenna turned 16 yesterday and is trying to get her driver's license today. Before you know it, they are teenagers. Treasure every moment and keep on praying. I have prayed since she was a baby about the woman she will become. I am so proud of her!
Love both of the pics!!!!!
Have a great day!!
Oh these hormones....got me all teary! Pretty song and great pics as usual!
I feel the same way,Leah. I hope I am doing a good job too...because somedays it is so hard to consistant. Natalie is such a sweetie.
Last day in March of 2008 I spend the day with Natalie. She was a good girl and made me laugh more than once. Her squatting in the floor just thinking or looking around just cracked us up today. Maw Maw and Paw Paw said they could remember you doing that. I don't remember you being so tiny and petite as she is. I do remember you were 2 years and 2 weeks old when you called out for "Mommy" because you needed to go Potty. That was the first time and the Last time you wore a diaper. Grand Momma must have a childrens Potty and soon. As I held her after lunch and we read the ugly duckling again she feel asleep in just seconds. I love her smell and the sweet feeling of having her look at me like I can fix anything from a torn page to puzzle she can't fix yet. The sweet look on her face when she wakes up and looks up to see she is in my arms and she smiles... is priceless.
Can't wait to meet number two. I am looking up some names tonight to see if I can find a good one. It really won't matter as long as she knows to calls me GrandMomma.
Love the song too by the way... sniff sniff..I am NOT pregnant. just got hormones. smile
How fast time flies. Seems not so long ago I was telling you that you would soon be a big sister. Do you remeber the pic of you in the window of the nursery looking at me and Jared? Its one of my favorite pic's of you in your life.
And that was just yesterday. Pray girl! you just might have two like you. smile
Mom
PS this says I am posting as Leah... how in the world?
Aww, Leah! :) That is so sweet...definitely touches my heart because I *so* know what you mean! Cherish every minute. :)
so sweet...
Those are both beautiful pictures, she is so cute.
Hey Leah,
Those pictures are waaay too cute!! Time does fly waaaay to fast when they're growing up. Ashley will be 21 this month and it just seems like yesterday that she was 10. Consistency is definitely near the top of the list. (I think that it's right under backing off when they're grown) :-) Hang in there girl you're doing just fine. Love ya!
