Works in Progress

I've been planning on painting some canvases for Natalie's room for a while now. It took me a little while to decide what I wanted to do. She loves animals, so I decided on some jungle animals. I figured I could girly them up some. So after browsing the internet I got some ideas. I started 2 of them today. I don't have any gray paint, so I couldn't completely finish the zebra one, and then I had just enough time to start the monkey one. I can't take credit for the images, they are a combination/adaptation of several pictures I found surfing the net.

I'm pleased with them though because I had no idea I could even draw in a half way decent fashion. I've got to get a few other color paints so I can finish these and then I also plan to do an elephant and a giraffe. I hope to get them done this week.

I also have this fabric cut and ready to go for a diaper bag I'm planning to sew for Abigail. My lighting was bad, but the fabric is pink and brown.
While I was taking pics of the canvases, ms. Natalie had to be in on the action. This first pic of her was taken through the rails on one of my chairs. I sure wish the rails weren't in the way because she has the best expression on her face. Oh well it's still a cute picture!

I feel Crafty, oh so Crafty

For a couple of years now, I've said that I was going to learn how to sew. Just shortly after I got pregnant with Natalie I had these grand plans that after she was born, I would learn. She's 18 months old now and I still had not made time for this goal of mine. A few months back Target had a really good deal on a basic Singer model sewing machine. So I bought one. I think that was in January. Last night, it finally came out of the box. I have several friends that are very good at sewing and thankfully they were willing to help this beginner. I've sewn once in my life. That was back in 9th grade home economics, and I made the most hedious looking red blouse with white heart buttons. I wish I still had it just to show you what it looked like, but it either graced the trash or goodwill long ago.

So, last night, thanks to Alissa and April and all of their help, I made my first diaper/tote bag.

It's even got pockets! I like this material for the most part, and I've got more clearance table material that I already cut the pieces out of, so I can give the practice run one more go. But now that I know I won't make a complete mess of it I'll be getting something I really like to make a new diaper bag for baby #2.

Have a great weekend!
