Jonathan's First Page plus Dixie Pieces Contest!

This page sat on my desk for almost 2 weeks. I started it and then just didn't get a chance to finish it until this morning. Of course I had a little motivation called a "deadline" for Scrap Whispers.
The challenge going up today on the SW blog is all about the color blue. I've taken a few weeks off from the challenges but this was the perfect one to get back in the swing of things!

I used leftovers from my Dixie Pieces kits. I pulled just about everything I could find that was blue out of the kits and used it to make this page.
An speaking of Dixie Pieces, we are getting ready for a huge Anniversary celebration!

There will be a new challenge issued every Saturday starting on September 18th. You will have till the following Friday night to complete the challenge, post it in the gallery and link it to the forum thread. The challenges will be based on genres of music and will be fun, fun, fun! There will be no one voted off and everyone will be eligible to win prizes!

Prizes -- oh, fabulous prizes! We have some fabulous prizes for you! Let me give you a partial list of our sponsors: Maya Road, Jillibean Soup, Reminisce, Imaginisce, PK Glitz, Piggy Tales, Teresa Collins, and Scrappin Sports!

Grand Prize will be valued at over $300!
Random Prize will be valued at over $150!

Dixie Pieces and National Scrapbook Day

I'm gonna be home having a virtual party this Saturday for National Scrapbook Day. There are lots of things going on in the internet scrappy world, and you'll see quite a bit about it this week here on the blog. Looking for somewhere to hang out> Come join us at Dixie Pieces.
Here are the details.

National Scrapbook Day is all about spending the day doing what we love and everyone enjoys this wonderful hobby just a little bit different, right? Well, this year our crop is all about you - and we want to celebrate what makes scrapbooking special to you! We will have 12 challenges issued every hour from 7am to 7pm PST along with lots of fun & games to keep the day interesting! But, guess what? Our wonderful Design Team won't be issuing the challenges, YOU WILL! That's right --- this is YOUR DAY and we want to help you celebrate it YOUR WAY! For those of you that want to give this a try --- you will receive 5 entries into the Grand Prize Drawing for coming up with a challenge!

All you need to do is come up with a layout, card or altered item challenge that would get everyone's creativity flowing! Along with your challenge, you should post a sample design (this does not have to be newly created). We need 12 challenges:

There are still some spots available so pop over to this thread if you want to post a challenge and which time slot you would like. If you have any questions, or would like to run your idea by me (Kim Holmes) first -- feel free to contact me at theholmescrew@comcast.net

For those of you that don't want to issue a challenge --- don't worry! It's not required and there will be tons of great opportunities throughout the day to earn entries into the Prize Drawing!

And what would a crop be without a terrific prize? Well, you know that we are going to have one! Sherry & Brenna are busy right now getting all the prize details together so we will make that big announcement as soon as it is finalized. ETA: The grand prize includes the June DixiePieces kit, a stylish handbag we found at CHA Anaheim, and a kit of Cosmo Cricket goodies with a total value of $100+. Guess what else? There will be "BLUE LIGHT SPECIALS" throughout the day with fabulous deals on the Dixie Pieces Monthly kits and more! Mark your calendars and plan to join us for a day of doing what we love, SCRAPBOOKING!

The Fine Print:
-Entries into the prize drawing will be given for:
- challenge creation & sample - 5 entries
- game participation - entries to be determined
- challenge participation - 2 entries per challenge completed
- Blue Light Special purchases - 5 entries
-Designs must be newly created for the crop and challenges may not be combined
-Deadline for challenges will be 11:59pm, Monday May 10th. Creations must be uploaded to the general gallery and linked back to challenge thread to qualify.
-Winner will be determined by random selection from all entries and announced no later than Friday, May 14th

Scrappy Monday

I have a bit of catching up to do, in sharing some of my latest pages. You've already seen one of my February Sussie pages HERE. But I haven't posted the rest of them yet! So here are the other pages I created with the February Kit.

This 3rd one also doubled as my page for Scrap Whispers this week. The challenge this week is "Novel Concept". Create a layout using your favorite childrens book. One of my all time favorites is the book I'll Love You Forever" By Robert Munsch. As many times as I've read that book to one or both of the girls, I don't think I've yet made it all the way through without welling up with tears. Such a sweet book.

We also just wrapped up a fun weekend online crop over at Dixie Pieces. My layout challenge was to use a border punch, and this was my example using the Feb. Dixie Pieces kit.

You actually have until the 18th of this month to get your projects uploaded into the DP Gallery, so even if you missed out this weekend, you can still participate. Just head on over to the forums to see all the great challenges.
Happy Monday!

I Made the Team!

About 2 years ago I stumbled upon a little scrapbooking community called Dixie Pieces. They were having an online crop that I decided to participate in. I've enjoyed every minute there and the Owners put together some great monthly kits. They recently had a Design Team call, so I sent in my application, crossed my fingers, and hoped for the best. Well, earlier this week I found out I made the team!! So for the next 6 months I get to play with their monthly kits and you'll be seeing the results of that here on the blog.

I've purchased a handful of their kits over the last couple of years, so in celebration of making the team here are a couple of layouts from their Nov 2008 kit.

Right now they are having a HUGE sale on all their previous kits that they still have in stock. The pickings are getting slim but there are still some great ones left. The kit I used for these layouts is on sale for $14! We also have our 3rd Annual Beat the Winter Blues Crop coming up the first weekend in February. If you are a scrapbooker we'd love to have you join us! (if you're family just enjoy the pics of the kiddos and try to ignore my scrapbook obsession :)

Middle of the Week

Not much going on around here except just hanging out at the house.

Here are a few more of the pages I got done on my scrap retreat. I did all these using a kit from Dixie Pieces.
